When your business uses tools such as heat transfer machines, the choices are endless among brands and models.  Choosing the right one can be a daunting task.  There are a few steps you can take to make the process run a little smoother.

As you can already tell, not all heat transfer machines are made alike. If you have decided on a set of products that can be made with either type of machine, then you should look to your production requirements to help you select the most appropriate one.  The best heat transfer machines for large volume orders would be the rotary drum machines.  They are also more productive for sublimation printing than would be a platen type press.

If your volume is low and you are going to do short orders or custom orders, then you may look to purchase a platen type transfer press.  Tote bags, shirts, and more can be made with these heat transfer machines and single order jobs are a breeze.  Remember that you must use this type of press for rigid substrates, regardless of your volume. Rigid substrates can be produced in large volumes easily with a large format platen press.  If you have an appropriate die cutter, you can print multiple images onto one piece of ceramic, wood, metal or glass and then custom cut them.  You can also fit multiple pieces onto a large format plate for faster production.

Some large format machines come with dual bottom platens and a swinging top plate which allows you to lay out your products and transfers while another set is transferring.  This also assists in speeding up production. Regardless of your product, heat transfer equipment is the clean and safe way to print with no liquid by-products, and the only by product at all being paper.  It is the ideal way to create quality affordable products.
